Chiropractic Posters and Charts
The poster shows the dermatomal distribution of the sensory dermatomes. The dermatomal pattern is color by spinal level with the cervical, thoracic, lumbar sacral nerves. A dermatome is an area of skin that is mainly supplied by a single spinal nerve. There are eight cervical nerves that extend the upper extremity to the hand (C1 being an exception with no dermatome). Twelve thoracic nerves that band around the chest, thorax, abdomen and back. Five lumbar nerves that map over the lower back and down the anterior lower extremity. Five sacral nerves from around the sacrum and down the posterior lower limb and leg to the foot. Each of these nerves relay sensation (including pain) from a particular region of skin to the brain. Classic dermatome man chart for the medical and chiropractic office.
